This cased 25 Year Police Long Service Award is a very nice example of this hard-to-find set. The award is a high-quality early medal, made of a brass alloy (Tombak). Virtually all of the original factory applied gold finish remains intact on both sides of the medal. This fire-gilt finish is bright and beautiful, with wonderful luster and eye-catching burnished highlights. There is only the slightest trace of wear. The suspension ring is intact, and there is no damage. The ribbon for this lovely medal is the correct cornflower blue type, with a Polizei emblem machine embroidered in gold-colored cotton. The ribbon has never been affixed to the cross, as this set remains just as it would have been when issued. The case for this award is complete. The exterior retains nearly all of the original surface, with slight edge wear and a light age patina. The lid of the case features the number “25” within a wreath, embossed in gold, indicating the grade of the award. The push-button closure and hinge are functional. This cased 25 Year Police Long Service Award is a choice and desirable piece, in excellent condition.
