This is a great example of an RZM period SA dagger. The blade on this one is bright and beautiful, with all of the original cross-graining and only very mild runner marks. The etching on this excellent blade remains crisp and dark. It’s marked on the reverse ricasso with the RZM emblem, the date of production “1941” and the maker code “M7/9” indicating manufacture by SMF. The handle of this dagger is gorgeous. The rosewood grip is free of chips and cracks, and shows eye-catching light and dark tones. The grip eagle is brass, and most of the silvering has worn away, revealing the base metal. The enamel roundel is intact. The crossuards showlight lifting to the plating, but most of it is intact, with nice luster. This SA dagger is complete with its original scabbard, which retains virtually all of the original factory applied glossy brown enamel paint. This is a very eye-catching dagger, with outstanding charm. The condition rates as excellent plus.
